Slovenian Wildwater Canoeists competed at the first selection race for Slovenian national team that will participate at the most important competitions of the season 2012. In men’s kayak event Tim Kolar won, in men’s C1 Peter Žnidaršič was the best, while in women’s K1 Neža Jarc won.
Instead of selection races that were supposed to be organized this weekend on Kolpa River but were cancelled due to lack of water the selection race for senior team was organized on Sava River near Hrastnik. At a closed selection race Tim Kolar of KKK Ljubljana won in men’s kayak event. It took him 15 minutes, 46 seconds and 9 hundredths of a second to cross the finish line. Only seven hundredths of a second behind him was his club colleague Simon Oven, while another member of KKK Ljubljana Maks Frančeškin finished third. The best Slovenian wildwater canoeing paddler – Nejc Žnidarčič – did not start at this race although he planned to start even few days before.
Peter Žnidaršič (KKK Ljubljana) was the fastest in men’s C1, Andrej Črepinšek (KKK Tacen) was second and Lovro Pompe (KKK Ljubljana) was third. In women’s K1 Neža Jarc won, while Teja Vrbnjak Erbežnik capsized just before the finish.
