Next weekend, on 26 and 27 April, the Tacen Kayak Centre will host the strong international I Feel Slovenia Canoe Slalom Cup, which will serve as an ECA European Cup and will also count toward the ICF World Ranking points. Competitors from 18 countries will take on the rapids of the Sava River.

The I Feel Slovenia Canoe Slalom Cup Tacen 2025 will be the first of two major international events held in Tacen this year, with the ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup following at the end of August. In addition to the Slovenian athletes, the ECA European Cup race will feature paddlers from Italy, Austria, Spain, Slovakia, France, Croatia, Hungary, Switzerland, Serbia, Great Britain, Canada, Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands, Ireland, Australia, and Senegal.

This event will also serve as the first selection weekend for the Slovenian senior national team, so our athletes will be especially motivated to deliver top performances.

All of Slovenia’s top slalom paddlers will be on the start list, including canoeists Benjamin Savšek, Luka Božič, and Žiga Lin Hočevar, who already secured spots on the national team based on their outstanding results last year. Kayaker Peter Kauzer has also pre-qualified for the team under the same criteria. The remaining spots will be highly contested by both seasoned team members and younger paddlers eager to break into the elite squad.

This competition will be a great opportunity to assess current form, as many top international athletes will be at the starting line. These include Giovanni de Gennaro, last year’s Olympic champion from Paris and European Champion in Tacen; his fellow Italians Xabier Ferrazzi, Stefanie Horn, Marta Bertoncelli, Elena Borghi, Raffaello Ivaldi; Slovak paddler Matej Benuš; Austrians Felix Oschmautz and Mario Leitner; Croatian Matija Marinić; French competitors Doriane Delassus and Pierre-Antoine Tillard; Swedish athlete Erik Holmer; Irish paddler Jake Cochrane; Senegal’s Yves Bourhis; Dutch paddler Lena Teunissen; Spanish competitor Clara Gonzales, and many others.

Both on Saturday, 26 April, and Sunday, 27 April, heats will begin at 10:00 AM, with finals for the top twelve starting at 2:40 PM.
