This weekend won’t be important only for slalom paddlers who will compete in Solkan, but also for sprint canoeists. They will start at International regatta in Italy and fight for places in Slovenian national team.

Mantova will host an international regatta in sprint canoeing with many Slovenian competitors at a start. This race will serve as the first selection race for Slovenian national team that will compete at World Cup Races and at European Championships in Zagreb. All candidates for places in Slovenian team will compete in Italy except for Špela Ponomarenko Janić who prepares for an Olympic season in Zagreb, and Tilen Vidovič who will miss this race because of obligations in school.

After the first week of very hard trainings in Bled Lovro Leban and Rok Kuk will be the most serious contenders for excellent results in Mantova. Leban and Kuk won’t compete only in K2 at 1000 metres, but also in individual kayak event at the same distance. This will be the first real test for Slovenian duo to see how successful were the trainings in winter period they spent in Australia for the first time.

The second selection race for National team in sprint canoeing will take place at Lake Bled on April 28th.
